Abstract

Cement industry is one of the major industries adding cement dust and carbon dioxide at mega scale to human environment. These emissions have several negative impacts on human health. Due to vast exposure to the cement dust, thousands of cement workers and professionals are at risk at any given time. Studies show that inhalation of cement dust causes many health problems; cement dust may enter in the human body and affect the different tissues that results in the form of diseases mainly related to respiratory, Gastro intestinal and urinary system. Exposure of cement dust to the workers can’t be eliminated; however it can be minimized by taking some preventive measures in terms of personal protection and hygienic working environment such as well ventilated working areas, wearing appropriate apparel, mask, and safety goggles. It is highly recommended that cement workers must undergo periodic medical examinations.
